Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, better known as its acronym LEED, impacts how construction industry leaders plan a building or community throughout all phases of development. The US Green Building Council (USGBC) says LEED “is changing the way we think about how buildings and communities are planned, constructed, maintained and operated.” Almost two million square feet of buildings earn green certification through LEED each day, making it the most used third-party verification of green buildings worldwide.
The green trend is here and according to the USGBC it is here to stay. “Green construction is quickly outpacing conventional construction in the U.S.,” says Rick Fedrizzi CEO and founding chair of USGBC.
